#51 Flight back & arrived in Germany

Hi,
Almost two weeks ago I had to pack everything, say goodbye to my host family and get on the plane. It was the weirdest feeling to wake up and know you have to leave and that everything is over. I couldn´t really realize it and didn't want to, it was hard to say goodbye to my host family, the people who I lived with for almost a year and we all cried.

When I walked to my gate and heard the flight crew speak German I just wanted to turn around and leave. The whole flight I refused to speak German because I wasn't ready to just leave everything behind me. In Munich, it was so weird and the first German I talked to (a policeman from security) was super unfriendly :/
But on my flight to Düsseldorf, I got more and more excited about seeing my family and my best friend again. As soon as I got there, I saw my family waiting with a poster and champagne :D

I got used to being here again but it's true that it feels like nothing has changed at home. I am very thankful that I was able to do an exchange year, I learned so much, mostly about myself and became a completely different person. I would recommend it to everyone, even if you have to repeat a year at school.
A very big thank you to everyone who followed my journey and is interested; unfortunately, my year in the US is over and so is my blog. It was so much fun to share my experiences and it's a great memory I can always look at.
I have a long summer now, see my friends, go to school to get my drivers license and will be in 11th grade. Soon my host sister Sydney will come and I can't wait to show her how I live.

#51 Rückflug & angekommen in Deutschland

Hallo ihr Lieben,
Vor fast zwei Wochen musste ich alles packen, mich von meiner Gastfamilie verabschieden und in den Flieger steigen. Es war ein richtig komisches Gefühl morgens aufzuwachen und zu wissen, dass alles vorbei ist und man alle verlässt. Ich konnte es gar nicht wirklich realisieren und wollte es auch nicht wirklich, der Abschied war nicht einfach und wirklich alle aus meiner Gastfamilie haben geweint, ich war wirklich gerührt.

Als ich zu meinem Gate gelaufen bin und alle Mitglieder der Crew schon deutsch gesprochen haben wollte ich am liebsten wieder umdrehen. Ich habe den ganzen Flug nur Englisch gesprochen weil ich irgendwie noch nicht bereit war alles hinter mir zu lassen. In München war es total komisch deutsch zu sprechen und der erste Deutsche mit dem ich wirklich gesprochen habe (ein Polizist von der Kontrolle) war auch total unfreundlich :/
Aber dann auf dem Flug nach Düsseldorf wurde ich immer aufgeregter meine Familie und beste Frendin endlich wiederzusehen. Dort angekommen, wurde ich auch total herzlich von allen begrüßt mit einem total süßen Plakat und einem Sekt :D

Ich habe mich schon wieder ziemlich daran gewöhnt hier zu sein und es stimmt aber wirklich, dass es sich so anfühlt als hätte sich zu Hause nichts verändert. Ich bin auf jeden Fall super dankbar, dass ich die Chance hatte ein Auslandsjahr zu machen, ich habe so viel gelernt, vor allem über mich selbst und bin ein ganz anderer Mensch geworden. Ich würde es jedem empfehlen, selbst wenn man in Deutschland ein Jahr wiederholen muss.
Vielen vielen Dank an alle, die meine Reise verfolgt haben und sich interessieren, mein Auslandsjahr ist leider zu Ende und somit auch mein Blog. Es hat mir wirklich Spaß gemacht meine Erlebnisse zu teilen und ist eine tolle Erinnerung, auf die ich immer zurückgreifen kann.
Ich habe jetzt erstmal lange Sommerferien, treffe mich mit Freunden, mache meinen Führerschein und gehe dann in die Oberstufe. Bald kommt mich aber auch schon meine Gastschwester Sydney besuchen und ich freue mich schon total ihr zu zeigen wie ich so lebe.

#50 Florida & Kiawah Island

Hey,
It has been some time since I wrote my last blog post, I am back in Germany now but I still wanted to tell you guys what I did in Florida and Kiawah Island.
My host family and our neighbors went to Rosemary Beach in Florida for a week and it was so beautiful there. The water was clear, our house super cute and we also saw a lot. We went bike riding, to restaurants, to the beach and swimming.

Only a day after my host sister and I got back from Florida, we had to pack again and get on a plane to Kiawah Island, a small Island in South Carolina. We stayed there for a few days with some friends and had a lot of fun.

I am really glad that I decided to stay a few weeks after my last school day because I got to see so many cool places and had so much fun :)
Now my life in Germany continues but I'm going to write a separate post about that.

#50 Florida & Kiawah Island

Hey,
Es ist schon ein bisschen her, dass ich mich zum letzten Mal gemeldet habe, mittlerweile bin ich schon wieder in Deutschland, aber ich wollte unbedingt noch erzählen was ich in Florida und auf Kiawah Island erlebt habe.
Ich war eine Woche mit meiner Gastfamilie und unseren Nachbarn in Rosemary Beach in Florida und es war wunderschön dort. Das Wasser war glasklar, unser Haus richtig süß und wir haben auch einiges unternommen. Wir haben mit Fahrrädern den Ort erkundet, waren essen, am Strand und schwimmen.

Nur einen Tag nachdem meine Gastschwester Sydney und ich von Florida zurückgekommen sind ging es für uns schon weiter nach Kiawah Island, eine kleine Insel in South Carolina. Dort haben wir ein paar Tage mit unseren Freundinnen verbracht und hatten auch super viel Spaß.

Ich bin wirklich froh noch ein paar Wochen nach meinem letzten Schultag geblieben zu sein, denn ich habe noch so viele tolle Orte gesehen und viel erlebt. :)
Jetzt geht mein Leben in Deutschland weiter, aber dazu kommt noch ein anderer Post.

#49 Summer

Hey guys,

After 180 days of school and only 2 and 1/2 weeks off summer is finally here!

I only had a week off now but I already did a lot of stuff:

On Tuesday, my host sister Sydney and I got Frozen Yogurt to celebrate that the school year is finally over!

On Wednesday we went to the mall and I had to go to Victoria’s Secret one last time (why don’t we have that in Germany?!;(( ).

Thursday I went to a super cute cafe with some friends and we just walked around and took pictures. But of course I got a mosquito bite in my face -.-

On Friday we had a Student Council Party, a club at my High School, it was out end of the year party and pretty cool.

Saturday I went bowling with my host family and neighbors, I’m not really good at it but I feel like it’s something you have to do in the US. 

On Sunday, Sydney and I decided very spontaneously to spent the day at the lake with my friend Tamina (also from Germany). 

We had so much fun, I was Jet skiing for the first time in my life and also the first time swimming in the lake although I was a little uncomfortable (apparently someone put their alligator in the lake last year and they never found it).

The next morning we were all super tired and went to Waffle House for breakfast. 

Yesterday I went to Carowinds (amusement park) with one of my friends but it started to storm as soon as we got there and all the rides were closed :/

In a few days I’m going to Florida with my host family and my neighbors and I’m super excited!

We are right at the beach and have our own beach house, but I’m still not sure if I’m going to swim in the water because there are lots of sharks :o

#49 Sommerferien

Hallo ihr Lieben,

Nach 180 Tagen Schule und nur 2 1/2 Wochen Ferien im Jahr ist die Schule endlich aus und der Sommer kann beginnen! 

Ich habe zwar erst seit einer Woche frei, aber dafür schon ziemlich viel gemacht:

Am Dienstag waren meine Gastschwester Sydney und ich Frozen Yogurt essen um zu feiern, dass wir das Schuljahr endlich hinter uns haben. 

Am Mittwoch sind wir zur Mall gefahren und ich musste natürlich noch ein letztes Mal bei Victoria's Secret zuschlagen (warum haben wir das nicht in Deutschland?!;(( ). 

Donnerstags war ich mit ein paar Freunden in einem super süßen Café und wir sind einfach durch die Stadt gelaufen und haben Bilder gemacht. Natürlich hatte ich das Glück und wurde von einer Mosquito mitten ins Gesicht gestochen -.-

Am Freitag war ich bei einer Student Council Party, das ist ein Club von meiner High School und wir hatten quasi eine Abschlussfeier und es war ziemlich cool.

Samstags war ich mit meiner Gastfamilie und unseren Nachbarn bowlen, auch wenn ich nicht besonders gut bin ist es etwas was man in Amerika gemacht haben sollte. 

Am Sonntag haben Sydney und ich uns ganz kurzfristig entschieden den Tag mit meiner Freundin Tamina (auch aus DE) am See zu verbringen. Wir hatten super viel Spaß, ich bin das erste Mal in meinem Leben Jetski gefahren und auch das erste Mal in einem See geschwommen, obwohl mir das irgendwie nicht ganz geheuer war (letztes Jahr hat jemand angeblich seinen Alligator in dem See ausgesetzt und er wurde nie gefunden).

Am nächsten Morgen waren wir alle ziemlich müde und haben bei Waffle House gefrühstückt. Gestern war ich mit einer Freundin bei Carowinds (Freizeitpark) aber sobald wir dort waren, hat es angefangen zu stürmen und alle Achterbahnen wurden zugemacht :/

In ein paar Tagen fahre ich mit meiner Gastfamilie und meinen Nachbarn für eine Woche nach Florida und ich freue mich schon so sehr!! Wir sind direkt am Strand und haben unser eigenes Strandhaus, aber ich weiß noch nicht ob ich schwimmen gehe weil es dort ziemlich viele Haie gibt :o

#48 Last day of school

Hi,

I still can’t really believe it but my time in the US is almost over. Last week was my last day at my High School and the week before I had my dance performance. I am done with all my finals (thank God) and all my friends wrote in my yearbook.

My year at my school was amazing with so many great friends, teachers and activities. I was a member of 3 clubs, the Cheerleading Team and got a part in our drama play. I got to know so many people there and am so glad I was able to make all of these experiences. I will always remember my time here and although it was sad to say goodbye to all my friends it, I was happy at the same time because I am so thankful for everything I experienced here.

My Spanish teacher is taking German classes and I always helped her with homework so at my last day I gave her my Germany flag and she was super happy. 

Unfortunately, I had to give my MacBook back and my phone broke so now I am disconnected from like everything :(

But I had a really great summer so far, I will tell you about that soon!
